The EZ Scooter Repair Shop has been converting Ride-Ons from SLA to lithium batteries for several years. It is an easy DIY project. Just decide upon how much you want to spend for Ah. Next, be very careful opening the battery box. Do not use power tools. Third, use a BMS that does not exceed the amps that your motor can handle.

Fourth, eliminate the existing charging system and by-pass it with a lithium charger of the correct size. Fifth, DO NOT TRY TO INCREASE THE VOLTAGE GOING TO THE MOTOR. The Ride-On components, motor & controller, were designed to operate at a specific voltage. By upping the voltage, they will overheat and burn out in short time. Remember, more Ah means more riding time! Sixth, happy riding!

Lithium Battery Fire safety:
Under normal conditions, the cause of these fires is simple. The Max Continuous Discharge Current of the BMS is too high for the type of cell used to make the battery and the BMS does not have a high temperature sensor. Lithium batteries have a safe operational temperature between 0 degrees and 140 degrees. The Normal Cell Operating Temperature is below 75 degrees Fahrenheit and the BMS should shut down when the cells exceed a Maximum of 133 degrees Fahrenheit.
